Blog post 3: Primary Artifact 1

I found this report by looking in the database on the UK libraries and it will be used in my project because Joliet Central is known for their high minority rate between African Americans and Hispanics with low income coming into their household and a lot of people think the school doesn't create enough opportunities for the students because they live in poverty so the school gets a rep of being bad and non-helpful.

Blog post 2: Topic Proposal

The community I have chosen is Joliet Central High School and Joliet as a whole. This is a community because it is a place where people live and where they may go to school. I know from going to the school and living in the town, that it has a bad reputation but I would like to know why the bad reputation continues till this day and why the stereotypes and labels have not been lifted. This community is my home and I would like to know why it's seen like a bad place and school.

Blog 1: My Life

Hello, I'm Michael Bautista, I'm from Joliet, IL, which is about 45 minutes south of Chicago. I am the oldest of 4 kids and the first in my family to go to college. I chose to go to college because I want to go into the pharmacy program. I also like to play sports, especially baseball and basketball, eat, sleep, watch movies, and just spend time with family and friends. I am the kind of person that finds spending time with loved ones is important, just based on the way I was raised. I'm part of a community where family is a huge value.
